Elegis - Main Sponsor for 2010! |
After some intense negociations, both the Sailing Across!-team as well as the people from Elegis are very proud to announce a new partnership with the project. Elegis will be the main sponsor for 2010. With this support they structurally enable the team to compete in the races that are currently planned on the agenda. "Elegis is one of the most prominent independent Belgian law firms, with offices in Antwerp, Brussels, Eupen, Liège and Namur. A strong team of 80 lawyers is dedicated to offer a customized, high-quality service to her clients in Belgium as well as abroad. All partners and employees share the same result driver approach and the same passion to serve their clients efficiently. Elegis recognizes in and shares with the sailing community values such as Independence, Knowledge through Experience, Perseverance and an Openminded view on the world." In return for Elegis's substantial support to the project, Felicity II will be carrying their logo on the main sail during the 2010 sailing season, as can be seen on the Boat Show as well. More details on our agreement, and a more elaborate presentation of Elegis will be shown on our reception on Friday Februari 12th, at 20h00 in Hall 4 of Flanders Expo in Ghent. |

Valcke Trailers gives a boat wheels |
|
The Belgian Boat Show takes a lot of preparation, not the least because we need to take a one tonne boat, 3 m wide and about as high, from Zeebrugge to Flanders Expo in Ghent and back. Rented trailers, lots of cranes and wheels were needed to get this arranged. And things are about to get more complicated than they are now. In slightly over a month Felicity II needs to move to Douarnenez. Due to a limited amount of free time, sailing the boat over is not an option. A more specialized solution had to be found ... Remembering the BBS 2009 contest in the entrance hall, where a trailer (with a boat) was on display, Bert contacted the company offering that trailer. Not that many phonecalls and meetings later, it became clear that this could become a win-win situation for both parties, and today we are more than pleased to announce that Valcke Trailers will offer the Sailing Across!-team a trailer for the duration of the project!
The trailer will be custom built, and while it hasn't been built yet, we are very impressed with the professionalism and the swiftness with which they can react to our demands, which are very specific for a mini 650. If ever you need a trailer, to buy or to rent, to tow a car, or to move your horse around, for your 27 foot speedboat or just a jetski, one address: www.trailersvalcke.be ! |

Felicity II accepted at the "Pôle 6.50 de Douarnenez"! |
|
During the past two year Felicity II has been sailing at the Belgian coast, with its home port in Zeebrugge. Despite the fact that we have learned a big lot, both during our own training sessions, as well as during the training sessions with Peter Laureyssens and Lucas Schroder that we organised, improving our technical and tactical skills is still our main point of focus. Being challenged during your training is very important, but training in group with other mini's is not easy in Belgium. The weather is not always as favourable, and there aren't many mini sailors in Belgium to begin with. Because of this Bert decided to apply for the French training school 'Pôle 6.50 de Douarnenez' a few months ago. This school was founded to teach mini sailors everything they need to know, and beyond. Just a few days ago we were informed that our team had been selected to participate in this group. Fantastic news, of course, which we had to share with you! |
